JOB DESCRIPTION

The Enterprise Architect – Cloud & Infrastructure plays a key role in designing ad implementing cloud-appropriate, scalable and secure technology solutions ensuring alignment with business objectives and IT modernization goals. This role involves driving cloud adoption, infrastructure modernization, and enterprise IT architecture, ensuring resilient, high-performance, and cost-effective solutions that align with business goals.

This role is located in Springfield, MO.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Enterprise Architecture & Strategy

  • Develop and execute an enterprise architecture roadmap aligned with business and IT strategies.
  • Establish and enforce technology standards, architecture principles, and best practices for scalable, secure, and efficient IT operations.
  • Provide hands-on leadership in defining and implementing modern architectural frameworks across applications, infrastructure, and data.

Cloud Infrastructure Strategy & Hands-on Execution

  • Develop and execute an enterprise cloud strategy (GCP preferred) that ensures scalability, security, and cost optimization
  • Lead the modernization of legacy infrastructure. Design, implement, and manage hybrid and multi-cloud strategies to optimize compute, storage, and networking architecture.
  • Establish and enforce cloud governance, security and best practices for infrastructure design and deployment. Oversee cloud enablement, infrastructure modernization, and platform optimization with microservices, containerization (Kubernetes, Docker), and serverless computing.
  • Ensure high availability, disaster recovery (DR), and business continuity through resilient cloud and infrastructure designs.
  • Actively troubleshoot infrastructure bottlenecks and optimize system performance through real-time monitoring, automation, and architecture improvements.
  • Implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) practices with Terraform for scalable automation.

Performance & Reliability

  • Lead initiatives for resilient, high-availability systems across cloud and on-prem infrastructure.
  • Conduct capacity planning, load testing, and stress testing to anticipate scaling needs.
  • Establish frameworks for monitoring, observability, and incident response using tools like Dynatrace, Splunk, or Prometheus.

Technology Governance, Security & Compliance

  • Establish governance frameworks, architecture review boards (ARB), and compliance processes to ensure security, scalability, and consistency.
  • Conduct cloud and infrastructure security audits, vulnerability assessments, and compliance checks (GDPR, PCI-DSS, SOC 2).
  • Optimize security policies to maintain regulatory compliance without degrading performance.

DevOps, CI/CD & Infrastructure as Code (IaC)

  • Define and drive enterprise-wide DevOps strategies, improving CI/CD automation and champion infrastructure as code (IaC) principles.
  • Implement performance-aware CI/CD pipelines, enabling automated regression and load testing before deployment.
  • Optimize software delivery processes with containerization, service mesh, and orchestration strategies.

Vendor & Stakeholder Management

  • Engage with technology vendors and key stakeholders to evaluate, select, and integrate best-fit solutions for the enterprise.
  • Negotiate vendor contracts to ensure alignment with business goals and cost-effectiveness.

SKILLS/EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

Required:

  • Proven ability to navigate complex enterprise architecture challenges, drive architectural decisions for $20M+ Infrastructure Portfolio decisions, having a direct financial correlation to company results and performance. 15+ years of experience in enterprise architecture, cloud strategy, and IT transformation
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, or Engineering (equivalent experience considered in lieu of degree). Over six years of experience of leading architecture teams up to ten solution and domain architects, mentoring architects, and influencing enterprise-wide decisions.
  • Cloud Computing: Works at an advanced level to design, implement, and manage cloud-based solutions across hybrid and multi-cloud environments, with a primary focus on GCP.
  • Enterprise Architecture: Operates as a recognized expert to design architectures that align with business goals and technical feasibility.
  • DevOps & CI/CD Automation: Designs and optimizes continuous integration and delivery pipelines for agile software development within GCP environments.
  • Observability & Performance Tuning: Leverages observability tools to monitor, diagnose, and optimize system performance
  • Security & Risk Management: Implements enterprise security frameworks, risk assessment models, and regulatory compliance measures.
  • Emerging Technology Research: Continuously explores and assesses new technologies for their potential impact and business value.
  • Cost Optimization & FinOps: Develops strategies to optimize cloud infrastructure costs, ensuring efficient financial management

Desired:

  • Retail Industry Experience, understanding the specific requirements of retail operations, both in-store and online
  • Prior experience or knowledge in the automotive or related industries, with an understanding of their unique challenges and opportunities.
